夏文︰我害怕我的腳斷了,幸好只是瘀傷
DIDI: I THOUGHT MY LEG WAS BROKEN
Paul Eaton 07 December 2005
Dietmar Hamann feared he had broken his leg after being on the receiving end of a horror tackle from Michael Essien at Stamford Bridge last night.
Essien clattered into Hamann during the first half of the goalless stalemate but amazingly escaped any punishment from the German referee.
Despite the knee high tackle, Hamann went on to play the full 90 minutes as Liverpool secured the point they needed to top Group G.
"I was going for the ball and I think he came over the ball and caught me just below the knee. The referee didn't see it and you have to get on with it," said Hamann.
"I really feared that I might have broken my leg, thankfully it is only bad bruising.
"When things like that happen, what you must not do is allow yourself to be distracted, we were playing well and controlling the game and getting the result to win the group was crucial.
"You have to get over these things and move on to the next match and make sure that we continue the run we are in.
"It was the worst tackle I've ever been on the receiving end of, and he didn't even apologise afterwards."
Benitez maintained a dignified silence when asked about the tackle during the post-match press conference and insisted the video replays of the incident told the story for him.
"I could see the tackle, it was in front of the bench and I could also see the leg of Didi Hamann," he said. "You can see on the video that it is clear.
"Maybe Hamann was fortunate to be able to carry on. My opinion is clear though. I prefer not to say what I think.
"I think that he (Mourinho) talks a lot. He said the things he needed to say but I prefer not to talk about it. I don't want to talk about things that are so clear."
