芬蘭後衛希比亞同意與利物浦簽下新約
Liverpool defender Sami Hyypia has agreed on a new contract with the European champions.
The Finnish stopper was immense during The Reds' amazing UEFA Champions League victory last season, and has been rewarded with a new deal.
The 31-year-old has agreed on a new contract that will keep him at Anfield until 2008, and will sign the deal when he returns to Merseyside after the club's latest European tie.
Rafa Benitez's side face CSKA Sofia on Wednesday night and Hyypia will meet the Bulgarians buoyed by the news he has been handed a new deal.
"Obviously I am very, very happy to agree a new contract with Liverpool," Hyypia told the club's website.
"We have been talking for a few weeks and I had no hesitation in committing my future to Rafael Benitez.
"Everybody wants to play for Liverpool football club at the moment and it's an honour to say that I will be here for at least another three years.
"I have won every single medal at the club apart from The Premiership and it would be very nice if I could win that within the next three years.
"This is the greatest football club in the world and after Steven Gerrard, Jamie Carragher, Dietmar Hamann and Djimi Traore all agreed new deals, I'm delighted to have done the same.
"These are good times for Liverpool and I'd like to repay the faith the supporters have shown in me by winning more trophies."
Benitez is busy trying to sign a new centre half at Liverpool, but former skipper Hyypia has been a giant at the back for the club in recent years and is still very much part of the manager's plans for the coming seasons.
